1509 ANTIQUE TUDOR OAK CARVING GOTHIC TRACERY PANEL - FORD'S HOSPITAL COVENTRY
A gothic panel, probably a window tracery, from Ford's Hospital Coventry, built in 1509 as an almshouse. Bombed by the Luffwaffe in 1940, the building was restored between 1951 and 1953 using original timbers. This piece was likely not used because it was cracked. It ended up in the collection of Peter Jackson, the London artist and historian, and is now offered for sale.
In good original condition, uncleaned or polished as found, repaired/held with wood battens to the rear.
A rare and attractive piece with very good historical provenance.
Carving 23.6cm x 18cm. approx.
