This is a U.S. military button: New York National Guard 22nd Regiment. Gilt finish on front. Back mark is BROOKS BROTHERS NEW YORK. Brief research on the back mark places the button in late 1800's.  The button measures 7/8" in diameter: NBS size medium. Excellent condition. A striking example by a prestigious company to add to your collection!
