Vtg 70s Formal Bridesmaid Evening Dress w/ Removable Overcape Seafoam blue Green xSmall-small

Amazing vintage dress. High neck (almost mock-neck) accented with a cream, blue, and green floral lace trim. The same trim is used around the mid bodice section of the dress (almost a high waist line). The sleeveless form of the dress is made of a tafeta like fabric with a long metal zipper up the back. It has a slight a-line skirt, but mainly straight. The dress has a top layer of chiffon like fabric that makes the basic form of the dress 2-layers. This top layer is fully attached at all edges, making it “one” with the dress down. The chiffon like fabric adds a bit of a light sheen to the overall look. The tafeta like fabric holds the shape of this dress in place. The Amazing part of this dress is the attached “cape” that is made from the same chiffon like fabric. It is the same length of the dress and covers the full back. As it is sheer, you can still see the flower trim and dress form through it. This “cape” is attached along the back neckline with small gathered pleats (see details of this in the photo. As it drapes atop the shoulders, it creates light covering for your arms and shoulders as it drapes down the front. It does not fully cover the front, but it is enough to keep your arms in and under when worn. This front part could also be flipped over the shoulders and onto the back. The dress is in very good condition. I do not find any holes, tears, or snares. The hemline does show some very light discoloration…probably from walking across a floor. See last photo. There are no fabric content and care tags as well as no size or brand tags. The quality of seamstress work does not appear to be handmade, but I did get this and a few other pieces of clothing from an estates sales, and there were some excellently handmade formal items in the lot. Regardless, the quality of craftsmanship is very very good. I have a mannequin that is a true size medium, and this was not going to fit her at all. So. Based on measurements (shown in photos), I feel this is an XSmall to Small size. Please use your judgment in sizing. I would say that the camera capture the actual color of this dress. It is like a sea foamy blue green…not really mint and not really light blue. It is a pretty color.
