This auction is for one (1) NOS - Vintage Herrmann Chicago Souvenir Handkerchief - Marshall Field. This handkerchief, which is 13” square, is in excellent vintage condition and appears to never have been used.  It comes its original Marshall Field & Company packaging which is 4-3/8” tall and 7-1/8” wide.

This item was obtained a number of years ago from a gigantic yard sale just outside of Boston.  The yard sale, which included vast amount of items from the 1920s through the 1960s purchased new and never used, lasted for six full weekends. The father was Raymond Douglass, who was a math teacher at MIT for 35 years.  The mother was Ollave Douglass, who was a homemaker, a full time shopper and an obsessive-compulsive hoarder: the now retired daughter was known to quote her mother as saying "if one was good, twelve was better".  The newspaper account can be seen in the auction photos.

This is a vintage cotton souvenir handkerchief featuring a map of downtown Chicago and its landmarks, likely from the mid-20th century. The design is a pictorial map of the city. It highlights various points of interest such as the Shedd Aquarium, Grant Park, Navy Pier, Soldier Field, and Marshall Field & Company.  The item is considered a collectible travel souvenir.  This handkerchief was made to commemorate Marshall Field & Co.'s 100th anniversary.
