• This kaleidoscope is made by Sankyo in Japan, a known maker of music boxes. When you wind up the key and the music begins, the mechanism rotates the Kaleidoscope image, and as long as the music plays, the image changes!  It works well and the image inside is clear.   I'm not sure of it's age but I believe I acquired it in the 1990's. The music is "Over The Rainbow" . It comes in the purple sack, as shown.   It is approx. 1 1/2 square and weighs just under 6 oz. stamped on the metal key is Sankyo, and stamped on one side is PAPER WEIGHT.  
• As you can see, it suffers from finger prints and may best be handled with gloves.  I used a very little white vinegar and that cleaned it up somewhat.
