This original postcard of the St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral in Karosta (Libau) features a  handwritten English note: 

"This is where we play football in front of the church".

During the Latvian War of Independence (1918-1920), the British Military Mission and the Royal Navy were based in Libau (Liepāja) to support the provisional Latvian government. This manuscript serves as a primary source documenting the presence of British military personnel at the Karosta Naval Port, near the Cathedral.
