This antique late Meji era (c. 1900) Japanese cast iron Choshi (tea /sake kettle) was used to serve both sake as well as tea. It has a nice long spout for care in pouring.  the handle as well as lid are of a silver like material and the lid has a chrysanthem bud handle (see pictures 17 & 18).  the handle is very sturday and serves both tea, sake or any licquid with ease.  It stands sturdy and erect on three nub legs (see picture 14).

This choshi is 10" (25cm) long including spout by 7" (17.5 cm)  tall.   Having been stored away for over a century it remains in excellent condition and, aside from some minor oxidation on the inside, shows little to no wear inside and out.
