Selling a beautiful antique lace collar from the Edwardian era (circa 1890–1915). From my grandma's antique lace collection

This hand-crocheted lace collar features spiral medallion motifs and a beautifully preserved blue ribbon insertion, woven through the high neckline.

Unlike simpler collars, this piece is constructed in a high-neck yoke style, designed to frame the neck while cascading over the shoulders in a bold, decorative silhouette—perfect for display or wear.

Key Features

    •    Hand-crocheted lace, likely cotton

    •    Intricate spiral/paisley medallion pattern throughout

    •    Original blue ribbon insertion at neckline

    •    High-neck detachable collar / yoke construction

    •    Scalloped edge with strong visual presence

Craftsmanship & Significance

This collar reflects the influence of Irish crochet lace traditions, where individual motifs were meticulously worked and joined to create dimensional, decorative lace.

The addition of ribbonwork was both fashionable and functional—allowing the wearer to adjust fit while adding a subtle pop of color. Pieces combining complex crochet and ribbon insertion are especially sought after by collectors.
