Watch Overview

In the 1970s, Omega employed the ESA 9162 (date complication only) and ESA 9164 (day/date complication) tuning fork movements in many of their watches. These movements are often considered the “Rolls Royce” of tuning fork movements. Designed by Max Hetzel, who had previously worked for Bulova; he was also responsible for the Accutron 214.

This is a vintage Omega Electronic F300Hz Constellation Chronometer wristwatch dated from 1970, reference CD 198.001. Also, known as the “Omega f300” – reflecting the frequency of the tuning fork.

Powered by the original Omega electronically controlled tuning fork movement caliber 1250 (ESA 9162), featuring 12 jewels, central second hand, day indicator (quickset), electrical hack feature, and Swiss made. The movement is also Licensed Bulova PAT.

Original champagne dial with baton hour markers, black minute/second track, luminous matching hands, and a black central second hand. The date window is located at 3 o’clock.

Cased in a 36mm round 14K gold filled case and stainless steel case. Original signed Omega crown and it is coming with the original Omega 14K gold filled top caps and stainless steel back bracelet.

Fully inspected and authenticated, it remains in very good vintage condition consistent with age and use. It is ready to wear and enjoy.

History & Legacy of Omega

Omega is a Swiss luxury watchmaker known for producing high-quality and prestigious timepieces. The company was founded in 1848 by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland; Louis Brandt started as a watchmaker, and he produced key-wound pocket watches. Originally, it was called "Louis Brandt et Frère" and they primarily produced pocket watches and it was until 1903 that the company officially adopted the name "Omega."

Throughout its history, Omega has continued to innovate and produce high-quality timepieces. Today, it remains one of the most prestigious and respected Swiss watchmakers, offering a diverse range of collections that cater to various lifestyles and tastes. Today, Omega continues to be a prominent and highly regarded Swiss luxury watch brand.

Omega Constellation: The Omega Constellation was introduced in 1952 as a chronometer-certified collection, following the success of the 1948 Centenary, Omega’s first automatic chronometer. Known for its precision, the Constellation featured automatic movements and the signature observatory medallion caseback. In 1970, Omega launched the Constellation Electroquartz, embracing the quartz revolution. Today, the Constellation remains a symbol of Omega’s commitment to accuracy, innovation, and timeless design.

About Vintage Timepieces

Vintage watches often run smaller than today’s standards. Men’s wristwatches typically measure between 29–36mm (excluding the crown), while women’s models—especially from the early 1900s to the 1970s—can be considerably smaller. We encourage you to review the measurements provided and reach out with any sizing questions.

Our collection features timepieces that are 20 to 100 years old. Naturally, they may show honest signs of age such as light scratches, patina, or worn straps—features that often add to their unique character and charm. Unless noted as recently serviced, vintage watches may eventually require routine maintenance to keep accurate time. If you’re looking for quartz-level precision, a modern watch may be a better fit.

Pre-Owned Condition

We offer a mix of brand new and pre-owned watches. Pre-owned pieces might have some cosmetic wear, which we always describe clearly. Take a close look at the photos and don’t hesitate to message us if you have any questions before buying.

We do not use Photoshop to hide imperfections—only to clean up the background. What you see is what you’ll get. We take great care to present our watches honestly and transparently, and we’re proud to stand behind every piece we sell.
