A documented Model 63 secretary desk by Kai Kristiansen for Tørring Møbelfabrik, executed in richly figured Brazilian rosewood. The design balances sculptural form with functional restraint.

This particular piece displays expressive, high-contrast figuring, with a subtle but lively spider-web patterning—hallmarks of old growth rosewood.

Three full-width drawers anchor the composition, each with recessed pulls carved directly into the rosewood. The slant-front panel opens to reveal a compact workspace with two floating shelves, an open bay, and three finely constructed drawers. The center drawer incorporates a concealed flip-up mirror. When opened, the front panel can also be slid inward, allowing the desk to remain open without projecting into the room—an elegant and highly considered detail.

The uninterrupted outer frame flows seamlessly into tapered legs, a reflection of Kristiansen’s precise control of proportion. This model is documented in Kai Kristiansen: An Industrious Designer (see reference image).

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No notable flaws observed. Original finish. Drawers operate smoothly.
