Lovely, antique, shell picture button - The Falconer.  A brass escutcheon of a horse and rider, falcon on arm, is set in a carved shell landscape. Measures approximately 1 3/8". The escutcheon has some freedom of movement, but has caused minimal abrasions to the shell surface. Wear to high points of escutcheon, abrasions to metal. There is a possible chip to the grassy surface at rear hoof. Appearance is not very noticeable. A few flea bites to edge. Reverse has cracking, chips but does not feel structurally compromised.
