Up for sale is Antique Burmese Lacquer Betel Nut Box.

Based on internet research, I believe it is from Burma. This is what I found -

  • Origin: Southeast Asia, specifically Burma (Myanmar). 
  • Function: Historically used to store betel leaves, areca nuts, and lime paste for chewing. 
  • Material: Woven bamboo or wood with a lacquer finish. 
  • Age: Often dating from the late 19th to early 20th century.
