Sitting Kamakura Buddha Shakyamuni
Vintage seated Buddha incense burner (censer) in heavy cast metal with a warm brass tone and nicely aged patina. The figure holds a rectangular incense well and sits atop a lotus-form base decorated with a traditional Buddhist manji motif—an ancient auspicious symbol representing good fortune and continuity in Asian art.
This piece has a substantial, solid feel in hand, suggesting quality casting rather than thin decorative ware. The proportions are balanced and display well on a shelf, altar, or meditation space.
The interior shows light residue consistent with prior incense use, while the exterior retains an attractive, even patina that adds character without detracting from presentation.
A versatile piece that works equally well as a functional incense burner or as a decorative Buddhist figure.
