Incubation Basics
- Rest eggs 24 hours after arrival before incubating
- Hatch time: ~28 days
- Temperature: 99.5°F (37.5°C) in forced-air incubator
- Humidity: 50–60% for first 25 days; 65–70% during lockdown (days 25–28)
Pro Tips for Success
- Turn eggs daily until day 25 (lockdown begins)
- Monitor air cell size: too large = increase humidity; too small = decrease humidity
- Expect pip sounds around days 25–26
- Do NOT open incubator during final 3 days
After Hatch
- Dip poults' beaks in water to teach them to drink
- Provide chick grit for digestion
- Heat source needed 6–8 weeks: start at 95–100°F, drop 5°F weekly
