This beautiful and unusual decoy is a very fine carved large Red-breasted Merganser drake made by the well-known Pennsylvania carver, E.E. Lindh. This incredibly artistic vintage decoy is made of solid wood features intricate painted details with the wings and crest in high relief. This one-of-a kind handmade solid wood decoy also features a beautiful incised bill and glass eyes. A rare find, this piece is a must-have for collectors and enthusiasts of duck decoys and hunting sports. E.E. Lindh was also famous in the decoy collecting community as an expert carver of miniature bird figures, especially Canvasback ducks and Canada geese.

I acquired this piece in the early 1980's at the Waterfowl Festival, which has been held annually in Easton, Maryland on the Eastern Shore for over 50 years of the Chesapeake Bay, where I used to live. This beautiful Red-Breasted Merganser drake decoy has, at least since I purchased it, has never been in the water, and is in its perfect original condition, with no chips or cracks or scratches in the paint and has no other flaws or signs of wear. Please see the photos, taken just a few days ago, for details.

It is hand-signed on the bottom with "E.E. Lind ~82~" and measures approximately 18.75 in (47.63 cm) long and 8.5 in (21.59 cm) tall and 5 in (12.70 cm) wide, and weighs approximately 1 lb 2.5 oz (1.430 kg).
