This #146 is a specialty variety. With a long-length center-set "standard" head, and common shank with 3/32" hole, it fits standard HO coupler boxes in locations where the mount is set AT THE CORRECT HEIGHT, or close enough for easy shimming.
A 140-series package contains FOUR couplers (two pair) with integral metal "whisker" centering springs and four of the new-style snap-together plastic "draft gear" mounting boxes, which can be used to convert rolling stock that has other types of mounting.
