Vehicle Description

This 1937 Cadillac Series 60 Convertible Coupe is a sporty pre-war convertible with a great look and fantastic options! The year 1937 marked an important milestone for Cadillac, General Motors' crown jewel and the undisputed leader in American luxury automobiles. Cadillac nearly doubled its sales compared to the previous year, a remarkable achievement considering the lingering economic challenges of the Great Depression. At a time when legendary marques such as Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg, Marmon, Peerless, Stutz, and Pierce-Arrow were either gone or on the brink of collapse, Cadillac remained one of the few surviving luxury automakers. Its survival strategy relied on a balanced lineup: more affordable models, aided by the companion brand LaSalle, alongside its exclusive long-wheelbase V-12 and V-16 automobiles that catered to the wealthiest clientele. By 1937, however, the Cadillac V-12 would be discontinued, symbolizing a shift in the brand's focus, though the prestige of Cadillac's design and engineering remained unquestioned. The 1937 Cadillac Series 60 Convertible Coupe exemplified the marque's ability to blend elegance, performance, and forward-looking design. Cadillac bodies retained much of their 1936 styling but were distinguished by refined updates. The most recognizable change was the new die-cast "egg-crate" grille, a bold front fascia that has since become one of Cadillac's most iconic design elements. Restyled front fenders featured a subtle central peak, while redesigned chrome bumpers proudly displayed the Cadillac crest at their center. These enhancements gave the 1937 models a fresher, more sophisticated presence on the road. Inside, the Series 60 Convertible Coupe continued Cadillac's tradition of offering some of the most luxurious interiors in the industry. Plush upholstery, fine craftsmanship, and meticulous attention to detail ensured that every ride reinforced Cadillac's reputation as the pinnacle of American luxury motoring. Combining timeless design, advanced engineering, and the prestige of the Cadillac name, the 1937 Cadillac Series 60 Convertible Coupe remains a landmark example of pre-war. In total, Cadillac produced a mere 7,003 of its entry-level V8 Series 60 models, which makes this particular Convertible Coupe a pretty rare, pre-war luxury car. This 1937 Cadillac Convertible, like all Cadillacs from this model year, is recognized as a Full Classic by the Classic Car Club of America (CCCA), making it eligible for all official CCCA events and CARavans. Powering this '37 Cadillac Convertible Coupe is a 346 cubic inch L-Head V8 fed by a Stromberg single 2 barrel carburetor that together were said to have produced 135 horsepower when new. The 346 Cadillac V8 is backed by a 3 speed manual transmission that shifted with a floor-mounted shifter that makes this Full Classic an enjoyable pre-war car to drive. Exhaust exits via a set of stock exhaust manifolds and out through a single tailpipe, generating a terrific throaty sound at idle and while cruising down the road. This 1937 Cadillac Series 60 Convertible is appointed with fantastic options as well! Dual covered side-mounted spare tires are not only useful should you need to change a tire on a CARavan but also elevate the upscale exterior look of this fantastic automobile. Amber-lensed fog lights are another welcome addition to this 1937 Cadillac as they provide additional visibility in low-light conditions and serve as another period correct luxury appointment. The driver's side chrome mirror greatly improves parking efforts since you can better see what is along side of you while squeezing into a tight parking spot at the local CCCA show or even at the local ice cream parlor. The front and rear chrome bumpers are also optioned each with a pair of bumper guards that further elevate the already outstanding look of this '37 Cadillac Convertible. Riding on a set of wide whitewall tires mounted on painted steel wheels and accented with optional chrome wheel discs, this 1937 Cadillac 60 Convertible has a fantastic look while parked or cruising down the road. The tan cloth convertible top is in wonderful condition as well and sports a glass rear window. The all steel body of this '37 Cadillac Convertible has been correctly refinished in Richelier Maroon paint that completes the exterior look of this fantastic pre-war classic car. The interior of this 1937 Cadillac Series 60 Convertible Coupe is gorgeous! The tan upholstery on both the front bench seat as well as in the rumble seat was replaced during this Cadillac's restoration and shows quite well. The matching upholstered door panels, tan carpeting, woodgrain-trimmed dash and optional flexible "banjo" steering wheel are all in wonderful shape as well and retain a nice stock look. As one can expect in a high-end luxury pre-war car, this 1937 Cadillac comes equipped with a full array of instrumentation including a 110 MPH Speedometer, temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, battery gauge, and fuel gauge, as well as a full-size clock. This '37 Cadillac Convertible also comes equipped with an optional AM radio which was a massive luxury option deep in the throws of the Great Depression. The dash is finished off with an ash receiver, cigar lighter, auxiliary map light, throttle control, lighting controls, as well as a locking glovebox. Whether you're a card carrying member of the Classic Car Club of America looking to add a V8-powered convertible to your collection or you're buying your very first Full Classic Car, or even your very first classic car, this 1937 Cadillac Series 60 Convertible Coupe would make an excellent choice.
