Really good version of the only Tissot to have been worn by James Bond! Although Bond is best known for Rolex and Omega watches, Roger Moore was pictured wearing the PR-516 in several scenes from Live And Let Die. Tissot merged with Omega in 1930 and both brands are now under the Swatch Group. So Tissot and Omega are well aligned with each other.
Some cosmetic marks and signs of wear but in good condition for a watch made in 1971. See pictures. The Perspex also has some signs of wear, but they are very minor. There is a mark at the 9 o’clock (5mm) which is more prominent at certain angles, clearly visible in the photo. It has been carefully polished and I would rate it as almost excellent for its age. Some tiny hairline scratches on the dial but again - for a watch that is over 50yrs old - expected. Overall you this is a fine example.
Every effort was made to acquire the 19mm lug width matching bracelet - and this is as close to Roger Moore’s I can get. Condition of the bracelet is excellent. There are 3 spare links.
The original dial has a beautiful petrol green/blue tone in certain lights matching Bonds exact watch.
The original bakelite bezels often go missing over the years and are very hard to replace. In this case the original bezel is intact with some minor loss around 2-4pm, (see pics) although it is fixed in place and no longer rotates.
The PR-516 is powered by an automatic Cal. 784-2 movement. Although I do not know the service history this watch is holding very good time.
“The Tissot PR 516 (specifically the vintage Visodate Automatic model using caliber 784-2) is famously known among collectors as the "hidden" James Bond watch. It was worn by Roger Moore in his first Bond film, Live and Let Die (1973).”
The purists will know the serial number 12.***.***, model 44622-2X and the movement shows this could be the exact model series worn by Roger Moore (considered as series reference between 11.5**.*** & 14.***.***)
Any similar watch manufactured after 1973 will not fall in to this category. And the movement was changed.
Original Tissot box from that era included.
The photos form part of the description.
