This is a good Original lightly used GAS MASK BAG for the medium Light Heavy use Gas Mask.

This gas mask was slightly bigger than the one issued for Civilians and was used mainly by Workers in the ARP Services, Fire Services and Police as well as Armed forces.

 The green canvas bag is approx. max.  5" x 5" base / 5" x 7" sides. 

The two sides have press stud closing pockets for items such as tins of Anti-gas Ointment (see other listing).  There are large side rings for the carrying strap.

The inside of the bag has a back pocket to take Gas Eye Shields.

Inside lid flat are the makers W & G and the date 8/1943  (August 1943). The inside of the lid is marked:

" LIGHT II / W & G / 8 / 1943 " .

In very good/excellent condition for age overall with very slight age and storage marks on bag hasc had two 

BUT the base of the bag has had approx. two 2cm holes cut for some reason, probably by owner at the time. 

A Rare Size and Original HOME FRONT /Military Light use Gas Mark Bag now getting hard to find.

These medium gas mask were also some times used by the Army / RAF instead of the large version with long air tube and Gas Filter box that went in a larger bag.

This may be one of these Military bags as the back has top and bottom open clips for fixing to webbing equipment and I am informed that this type of bag was also used by Airbourn Troops. .
