An incredibly attractive William IV or Georgian era sterling silver decanter label or bottle tag.
Traditionally used to hang around the neck of a decanter which contained the corresponding drink, in this case the drink is Sherry
Cut out text reading sherry on a realistic vibe leaf with fine vein detail and stippling to the body of the leaf, there is a curling tendril to the corner and the label retains the original sterling silver, rolo link chain to hang around the neck of the decanter.
This piece is fully hallmarked for sterling silver featuring the bust of King George III, made by William Kerr Reid, London Assay office, 1830.
An attractive, well made, large piece.
Condition: Good used condition with signs of use and wear commensurate with age, rich patina, some rubbing to the hallmarks, chain has a cotton repair to one link
