This a very nice build of an Ian Kirk/Mailcoach LNER Gresley main line coach kit for a compartment BT, of a type that I believe was built between 1932 and 1936. It is a very clean build, but the most impressive feature of the build is the lovely representation of LNER teak livery, with very well executed lining. The coach is numbered 12931, while I am no LNER coach expert, I believe that is its post-1943 renumbering number.
If one can criticise it, it is that it is a little short of detail: it could be improved by addition of commode handles, end handrails, cross framing between the underframe trusses, and brake rigging, all of which would be easy to add for an experienced modeller. Where these features present.it would have been priced at £45. It is, however, fitted with a nicely painted interior, which furthermore can be accessed by removing a screw at each end, which enables the body to be lifted off. The other thing that I would criticise it for it that it is fitted with plastic wheels: a pet hate of mine, which would swap out were I to be keeping it. I feel that it could do with a little more ballast internally to run well, but I will leave you decide this.
This is one of three Gresley corridor coaches that I have obtained from the same source, all built to the same standard:he first one has already sold, and the final one has received some damage that I am repairing at present, and I will be offering it once I have carried these out.
The coach will be well wrapped in tissue paper, then in bubble wrap, inside a stout cardboard box, and will be dispatched rapidly after sale.
