Charlot Byj was a talented American artist who lived from 1920 to 1983. After finishing art school Charlot began her career by designing illustrations for greeting cards and posters. Charlot Byj joined the Goebel Company in the late 1940’s after Franz Goebel noticed some of her artwork while on a visit to New York where she was living a the time.
So the idea for the Little Redheaded figures began. From designs drawn by Miss Byj the first figurine ‘ Strike ‘ featuring a little redheaded boy bowling was copyrighted in 1957. Working with master sculptors Arthur Moeller and Gerard Skrobek ‘ The Roving eye, ‘ ‘Oops,’ and ‘Little Miss Coy,’ soon followed . The series ended production in 1988 with over 100 figures.
