Hingham MA Old Ordinary Colonial Inn Tavern Museum Pairpoint Glass Cup Plate

Vintage Massachusetts Crystal Window Decoration

Handcrafted on Cape Cod, Made in USA

This vintage lead crystal Pairpoint Glass cup plate features the Old Ordinary House in Hingham, Massachusetts. Cup plate number 48 was first pressed in 1977 and the design was based on a drawing by Mildred Justice. The Old Ordinary House served as an inn or tavern during the colonial period and is now home to the Hingham Historical Society's collection of furnishings and artifacts. This beautiful cup plate makes for a great addition to any collection, especially for those collecting the First Fifty plates or anyone from the Massachusetts South Shore area. It also doubles as a charming farmhouse vintage window decoration. Made in the USA. Handcrafted on Cape Cod using time-honored techniques, these 3.5 inch cup plates have subtle variations that highlight the artisan's skill. Each cup plate is crafted using a mold created with a hammer and chisel, and then pressed with molten glass using an antique press. This manufacturing process results in cup plates that are similar yet possess their own distinctive characteristics. Look closely and you'll find the artisan's initials and the Pairpoint trademark within the design. Beyond their aesthetic appeal, these versatile art glass pieces can add functionality to your home, serving as catchall dishes for organizing small items or ring dishes to keep your treasured jewelry safe.
