In Sri Lanka, the avocado is commonly known as
"Aligetapera" in Sinhala and is scientifically classified as Persea
americana mill. It's an evergreen tree, typically reaching 20 meters in height,
with leaves that are aromatic when crushed and can be identified by their
elliptical shape and alternate arrangement. The greenish-yellow flowers are
inconspicuous and grow in clusters, eventually developing into the
characteristic pear-shaped fruit
