A classic Victorian-era pickle castor (also called pickle caster) produced by the Meriden Britannia Company (late 1800s–early 1900s). It features: hobnail (raised dots) pressed clear glass jar insert and an ornate silver-plated frame, domed lid with decorative finial, alll with filigree-style details. This piece was manufactured by the Meriden Britannia Company (marked "Meriden B. Company"), a prominent American silverplate producer based in Meriden, Connecticut. The company operated from 1852 until it was absorbed into the International Silver Company in 1898. Excellent condition: no chips or cracks. See photos.
