William Heaton Cooper (1903-1995) was an artist and the son of Alfred Heaton Cooper an English landscape artist who settled in the Lake District.
William set up a gallery in Grasmere on a piece of land he purchased in 1937, to showcase both his and his father's work. This gallery and café are still in existence today, providing an exhibition space and also to sell prints from these talented artists.
This particular print is of William's painting of Butterilket Farm, in Eskdale. It is one of his rarer prints. The print measures 28 cm x 23 cm including the frame. It depicts the snow covering the farm's barns with the mountains rising above them and sheep huddling together for warmth in the foreground.
