Nice little cast iron trivet with a cool twist: it’s been converted into a candle holder with a fluted/scalloped metal cup screwed into the center. These circular “gear-edge” trivets are commonly found unmarked or attributed to makers like Wagner/Griswold styles,; this one is marked 283 on the handle but I’m not seeing a maker name.
The candle holder attachment is secure, but please note it spins fairly freely around the attachment screw and has a slight wobble. That makes it more of a charming rustic accent piece than something you’d want to fuss with while the candle is lit.
Details Length: 5" Diameter: 3" Height: 2" Weight: 7 oz Material: Cast iron trivet with metal candle cup insert Markings: “283” on handle
CONDITION: GOOD (Poor-->Fair-->Good-->Very Good-->Excellent-->Mint): Overall solid with age-appropriate wear, surface patina, and rust/oxidation consistent with vintage cast iron. The candle cup insert is attached but rotates and wobbles a bit around the center screw. No cracks noted; cosmetic wear and roughness present as shown.
I aim to please, and describe every item to the best of my ability. But please note that my vintage items often received frequent use back in their day, so may show visible signs of wear and age. Personally, I wouldn't have it any other way, as I treasure those marks of the past.
