My late husband was a British Civil War enthusiast and collected many items from this period.  

This original 18th century portrait depicts Edward Montagu (1602-1671), a significant commander of the Parliamentary forces during the English Civil War

It was engraved by Jacobus Houbraken (1698-1780) after an original painting by Sir Anthony Van Dyck

The print originates from Thomas Birch's Famous series "The Heads of Illustrious Persons of Great Britian" 1743

Edward Montagu was a prominent Parliamentary commander during the English Civil War and once served as Oliver Cromwell's superior before later supporting the Restoration of King Charles II

The print is original not a reproduction and dates to around 1750

The border has a few bites and has some aging and dirt (see photos), however the image is crisp and clear and could be framed nicely.
