This is a 226 year old antique Japanese book by the famous Edo era author, Shibashiso published in 1801.  Titled Hakone Reigen Izari no Adauchi,  it is a novel about a disabled man named Katsugoro, trying to reven his older brother.   There are 12 chapters and this chapeter, the 11th "Amida Temple" is famous. 

  All pages are made by using wood block prints.   Hand bound (see pictures 5 - 8). This book contains some 100 of these double sided hand printed pages.  Very unusual to find a wood block print in cursive style.  
Despite its age, the calligraphy is  still very clear, and the pages turn easily. This book has been in storage for over 200 years and remains in good condition. despite numerous book worm holes (see pictures 9 - 13 - extra character!) The book measures 6" wide by 9 " tall (15 x 23 cm).
