This listing is for an antique bronze scholarship medal awarded by the Jews Free School in London, England to a student of the school. This medal was earned by Aaron Cohen. This measures 2 3/16" across and weighs 75 grams. 

It was first awarded in 1858 to celebrate the fact that Lionel de Rothschild had become the first practicing Jew to take his seat in the House of Commons. The Rothschilds were very strong financial supporters of the Jews Free School. 

Obverse: "JEWS' COMMEMORATION SCHOLARSHIP / FOUNDED TO COMMEMORATE THE ADMISSION OF JEWS INTO PARLIAMENT IN THE PERSON OF BARON L.DE ROTHSCHILD / JULY 26TH 1858"

Reverse: "LEARNING - ENOBLES - LIBERTY / (JEWS FREE SCHOOL) / AARON COHEN / SECOND / 1913 / SCHOLAR"
