W.H. Wilcox (1865-1940) established himself in Tacoma in 1890, where, after becoming interested in photography, he took several trips with the mountaineer A.A. Denman. Wilcox moved to Port Townsend for a job with the U.S. Customs Service in 1897, and continued to photograph scenes in the area, as well as the activity of indigenous peoples, for the rest of his life.
