Phra Khru Sutthisirikun (Ya Than Khan) Inthapanyo

Born on Sunday, July 5, 1936 (the beginning of Buddhist Lent), he is 84 years old and has been a monk for 64 years. He is the abbot of Wat Sri Sa-at and the Tha Wang Nam Bo Nong O Dharma Practice Center. He is also the abbot of Dong Yen Subdistrict, Mueang District, Mukdahan Province. He possesses psychic powers that transcend both body and mind. Those with strong concentration or spiritual power can easily perceive the state of nature, transcending all supernatural powers. He radiates a bright light that encompasses the three realms of the world. He is revered by deities, kinnavas, psychics, and humans. He is compassionate towards all beings, like a Bodhisattva with great compassion. His practice is simple and humble, like a pure stream of clear water. Just closing his eyes and focusing his mind for a split second, he radiates the aura of Buddha's power. His fame spread far and wide beyond description. Luang Pu Khan, the god of Dong Yen, was born into a family of farmers named Dee Duang Phan in Mukdahan District, Nakhon Phanom Province. His parents didn't tell him about this, but as a child, Luang Pu was intelligent and quiet. He enjoyed going to the temple to make merit. He was diligent in his work and studies, and in his free time, he would help his parents with various rural chores. Later, when he was 14 or 15, he asked his parents for permission to be ordained as a novice monk to study various subjects. During his time as a novice, he was ordained as a monk at his home temple, Wat Sri Sa-at, where he continued to advance. He became the abbot of Wat Sri Sa-at and was subsequently appointed Phra Khru Sutthisirikun (Ya Than Khan) Inthapanyo. He was subsequently appointed the abbot of Dong Yen Subdistrict, where he remains to this day.

Luang Pu's character is extraordinary, unlike any other monk, even though he was the abbot. The subdistrict abbot, Luang Pu, didn't like staying at his local temple. Instead, he would reside in another place, the Tha Wang Nam Bo Nong Or Monastery. This was a peaceful place, home to a variety of animals, including thousands of monkeys and a 300-year-old white turtle. Luang Pu encouraged him to cultivate the precepts and meditate. The villagers and neighboring provinces revered Luang Pu greatly. When villagers were distressed, they would come to Luang Pu for help, whether it was looking for a corpse or finding it. They would invite Luang Pu to point out the location. If it was as Luang Pu pointed out, they would come to Luang Pu for treatment and holy water, and the ailments would disappear.

Experiences of Luang Pu's Life-Saving Amulets

Luang Pu was fond of chewing betel nuts. This is the origin of the phrase "betel nuts for life." In the past, Luang Pu didn't make amulets, but rather made takruts and betel nuts. Anyone who visited Luang Pu would receive only betel nuts. People in the area would frame the betel nuts and hang them around their necks. He rode along in the car all the time, making Luang Pu's betel nut a desirable item for the faithful. The villagers said that having Luang Pu's betel nut made him safe. Even when the car fell into a canal and sank, everyone in the car was still unharmed because of the betel nut of Luang Pu.

 About Luang Pu Sila Sirichanto

Luang Pu Sila Sirichanto (Phra Ratchawacharathammasophon) was born on October 14, 1945, in Surin Province. His original name was Sila Nilchan. He is a revered monk from the Northeastern region, renowned for his profound insight and virtuous conduct. He was ordained as a novice at the age of 12 and later became a monk. After studying Buddhist scriptures and passing the sixth level of the Buddhist scripture examination, he went on a pilgrimage and retreat, learning Vipassana meditation from several gurus and studying palm-leaf manuscripts of the Somdej Lun tradition. He is currently the abbot of Wat Phra That Muen Hin in Kalasin Province.

Detailed Biography

Birthplace: Born on October 14, 1945, in Rattanaburi District. Surin Province, originally named Sila Nilchan, later moved to Roi Et Province at the age of 6.

Ordination and Monastic Ordination:

Ordination: As a novice in 1957 at Wat That Prathap, Roi Et Province.

Ordination: In 1966 at Wat Burapha Phiram, Roi Et Province, under the Mahanikaya sect.

Education:

Passed the highest level of the Naktham examination and the sixth level of the Pali examination.

Studying Vipassana and Laotian Dhamma script, including palm-leaf manuscripts from Somdej Lun's tradition in Lao PDR.

Pilgrimage:

After completing his studies in Buddhist scriptures, he went on a pilgrimage. He went into seclusion in several provinces, such as Udon Thani, Nong Khai, and Chaiyaphum.

In 1974, he went on a forest pilgrimage to Khao Kwai in Laos.

Vasantara Residency and Activities:

Since 2007, he has been in seclusion at the Ban Kae Pae Buddhist Park in Kalasin Province.

He also participated in Buddhist consecration ceremonies at various temples throughout the northeastern region, at the request of his disciples.

Ecclesiastical Title: On June 30, 2023, he was graciously bestowed the title of "Phra Ratcha Wacharatham Sophon" by His Majesty the King.
