Here is a Marx Toys tin lithographed 6-inch O gauge mechanical steam freight train. The set consists of 5 pieces, and the cars are on the very short-lived tinplated silver frames! First is a mechanical 0-4-0 Commodore Vanderbilt heavy stamped steel engine, complete with a sparkler arm (no flint in the mechanism, but the parts guys carry those). Then a New York Central black coffin type rivet style tender with white lettering. Then a 553 silver Santa Fe Middle States Oil single dome tank car with red SF logos and black lettering and details. Then a green 552 Rock Island gondola with red and white details and lettering, and a red interior. Last is a red 556 New York Central System caboose with black and white details and lettering. The cars all have 4 stamped metal wheels on metal axles and twisted tab type tab and slot couplers, and are on the cleanest, shiniest silver frames I've seen in decades! The cars are definitely all original, while the engine MAY have been a very well-done restoration from many years ago. Or it could be original as well (I am not really sure), but since I got them all together, I'll leave them that way. I tested out the engine, and it runs but needs a nudge to get going - I show this in the short video. A good cleaning and lubrication by the new owner should solve that. Please note, I used a key out of another set to test this - THERE IS NO KEY INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION, BUT THE PARTS FOLKS DO SELL REPRO KEYS. Great for the layout or around the tree at Christmas, or perhaps to add to your collection of Marx! Photos show all of the items from all 6 sides, with a yardstick in the shots for size reference. Priced reasonably, with only actual shipping on the roughly 3-1/2 pound package charged to the winner (I do give you a number of shipping options, so you can pick what works best for you).
