Boeing 787-8, construction number 34575, registered as N787BA, was the first Dreamliner built for test and demonstration purposes. Delivered in 2007, it played a central role in the 787 flight-test program, evaluating the aircraft's composite airframe, new systems, and engines under real-world conditions. N787BA was painted in Boeing house colors and fitted with extensive instrumentation to monitor structural loads, avionics, and performance during certification flights. It participated in route-proving missions, ETOPS testing, and public demonstrations to potential airline customers. After completing its primary test role, N787BA continued in a support and demonstration capacity, helping validate operational procedures for the production 787-8 fleet.
