To my fellow Canadians, if you have received UPS parcels in the past and have foregone signatures by using their "My Choice" option, and the parcel tracking is marked "Delivered" but your package goes missing for any reason, I am unable to open a claim with UPS (neither can you) and you will be left with no recourse. If you try to contest through Ebay, since there is a proof of delivery the arbitration will go in the shippers' favor.
So henceforth, I will be adding "Signature Required" when processing a shipment via UPS. If you wish to forego signature as you feel comfortable/confident that you will receive your parcel and choose convenience over protection, please send me a message upon purchase.
The reason I am sharing this information is for the first time I have had a parcel go missing. The UPS tracking showed parcel delivered yet the customer did not receive it (and I believe him...long term ebayer with 100% positive feedback). He promptly made contacted informing me of the situation. I have called UPS repeatedly and try to open a claim to no avail.
Personally, I used the UPS "my choice" years ago for a specific delivery that required a signature but knew that I would not be home for the delivery. I didn't give another thought thinking this applied only for that specific delivery. I did find it unusual that sometime I would receive a very expensive parcel for example Dewalt tools running in the high hundreds of dollars left at my front door in the original box with a UPS label on it screaming to all passers-by "Please Steal Me!"
In hindsight I am one lucky sob...but in these hard times I'm done running fast and loose with my hard earned dollars.
That said, I apologize for this long winded rant but I felt it important to share this with you.
Please be safe, Dave
