Our sheep are primarily kept for conservation grazing as part of a project to manage the land sustainably for people and nature. They are much loved and organically managed. They also take part in educational and therapeutic sessions on the farm. (For them this means getting fed and being scratched)

The fleeces are from pure bred Icelandics and Icelandic cross Shetland sheep. They are from individuals with the most beautiful and interesting fleeces this year. The sheep were shorn in the spring and autumn as their fleece grows so long and so quickly they need frequent haircuts. These are their summer fleeces so they are finer and softer than they would have been if they had worn them all year.

The fleeces are all beautifully soft and lustrous. Icelandics have two parts to their fleece. The warm insulating layer (they) and the courser stronger outer layer (tog). This is less pronounced in the Icelandic/shetland crosses. All of the fleeces have a variety of shades, lengths and colours within them and are amazing for creating unique and interesting pieces with.

The fleeces have had one gentle wash and have had vegetable matter removed so they still have a gentle sheepy smell but feel clean and pleasant to work with.

This fleece is from Parsley. He is an Icelandic Shetland cross.

This purchase contains 50g of fleece. Please get in touch if you would like larger quantities or have any questions.
