The History of
... Panerai.... is the most famous Italian watch company. But keep
in mind, Panerai is now produced in Switzerland, not Italy.
Originally founded in Florence in the 1860’s, this “watch workshop”
was commissioned by the Italian Navy to produce a watch that could
be easily read underwater. The early prototype was actually fitted
with Rolex parts.Giovanni Panerai and his family had no idea, back in
1860, just how significant the Panerai watch company would become a
century and a half later. Panerai started his business by producing
measurement and precision systems for the Italian Navy, which
gradually lead to an affinity for watchmaking and other precision
instruments. The company continued to develop in parallel with the
Italian Navy, and the commandos were equipped with wristwatches
produced by Panerai. In 1930, Panerai watches were well known in the
Italian military and the company had an exclusive contract with the
Navy to produce their watches and aiming sites for various types of
weaponry. The ruggedness and durability of the Panerai watches is
still symbolic today, and the company only started producing
wristwatches for the general public in 1993...

watch described is an Panerai PAM00368 Luminor 1950 8 Days, Left
Handed, the so-called 'Destro', crafted Brushed Titanio Cushion shaped
case, measuring 47mm in diameter, Fixed Polished Titanium Bezel.
Automatic Movement, power reserve up to ± 192h/8 Days. Display a
tobacco Brown "sandwich" style dial with Luminous Arabic 12, 3, 6, 9
numerals /index hours markers, Gold tone Super-LumiNova®Luminor, stick
hands, small seconds sub-dial at 3 o'clock position, engraving ""8
DAYS"", 8-day power reserve with indicator on movement, device
protecting Fluted Crown, Locked With Security Brake Lever, crown-
brushed Titanium, Scratch resistant Sapphire crystal both sides,
display caseback, inscribed and numbered, Panerai brown leather strap
with large Titanium Tang buckle, plus 2nd strap black. Water resistant

Titanio Pam00368 Left Handed, crafted brushed Titanio cushion shaped
case… This watch is a very successful PAM series. LEFT-HANDERS made
their debut in the early 1940s, produced for a Navy. One possible
historical reason for the existence of these watches lies in the
equipment, which included wrist compasses and depth gauges, both of
which could be worn on the left in place of a watch. The Luminor 1950
Left-Handed 8 Days by Officine Panerai provides greater functionality
and comfort to all those who prefer to wear the watch on their right
wrist. The Gorgeous tobacco Brown Sandwich dial together with the small
seconds at 3 o'clock maximize readability and balances out the
appearance of the watch, including the crown-protecting bridge placed
on the left which is characterized by Panerai. These watches have
recently become one of the best investments in the watch world. They
hold their value, often increasing, and usually always sell for the list
price, or higher!!! A great value..one of my very favorite brands of
