Very Vintage West German Dentelle point back Givre glass Lt Sapphire

Dentelles have more facets than regular rhinestones giving them increased sparkle.
Givre glass is a type of glass, often used for beads, rhinestones, and cabochons, that has a translucent or transparent color layered over another color, giving it a depth and sometimes a cloudy or frosty appearance with "ribbons" of opaque color swirling through it. This technique creates a unique visual effect that adds texture and interest to the glass.
  • Appearance: It features a core of one color (often translucent or opaque) with a different colored overlay, creating a marbled or cloudy look.
  • Manufacturing: The "givre" process involves layering colors in a specific way during manufacturing to achieve this layered effect.
  • Uses: Givre glass is used to make decorative items like beads, rhinestones, and cabochons for jewelry and craft projects.
  • Origin: The term is French for "iced" or "frosted" and is commonly associated with vintage Czech and West German glass manufacturing.
