It's always interesting and touching to me when I find a rustic handmade item like this. Someone took the time, a long time ago, to make this plaque. The poetic prayer must have meant a lot to the folk artist. The prayer appears to be on a kind of parchment paper that was glued or decoupaged onto the beautiful wide board. The handcrafting now shows many places that have chipped, or perhaps it was intentionally distressed, so please take the time to look at all of the photos and zoom in so that you can fully see the wear. In my opinion, the chips and nicks do not detract from the overall ambience of this humble piece of folk art and the lovely prayer that was cherished.
