It is vintage and in fine shape. Please see photos for aging and any flaws. See additional details below. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. Thanks for looking!
First edition work done by the photographer during the original time period. Photogravure is a printmaking process that creates a photographic image on a metal plate, typically copper, through an etching process. It involves transferring a photographic image onto a light-sensitive material on the plate, which is then etched to create a relief suitable for inking and printing. The resulting prints have a characteristic look with a wide tonal range and a soft, detailed appearance.
I bought several of these years ago. They include the original place of origin that they were kept in Japan. I don't know what 'Art Museum' they were in though? They were originally done by the photographers, and the original snipe comes with them. The Museum added additional biographical information on back. Very rare items some I had never seen before.
The person I purchased these photogravures from told me they were not originally put on the attached boards. However, they are vintage and some show more signs of this than others. For instance, some show signs of tanning from age. Like a light yellow, tan color to it. They were put on the boards to better preserve them I was told. The snipes also do show signs of aging and tanning as well. Some appear to have been taken better care of than others, so I assume that is why some show more signs of aging than others. The museum added the biographical information. I hope this information helps. But if anyone knows anything else about these please message me. Thanks to everyone for your questions and interest.
