This is a beautiful vintage collectible heavy pewter lion's head staple remover. It's 1.5 inches long, 1 inch wide, and 2 inches high. The inner mechanism is a standard steel staple puller. 

The artist is Jac Zagoory, known for designing original, thought-provoking writing instruments and pewter desk accessories which include unique pen holders, staplers, and staple removers. Their products have been featured in Wired Magazine, Stylus, Gift and Decorations, Greetings, Pen World, The New York Times as well as in foreign publications.

I detected a bit of rust inside the steel puller mechanism - see the photos - other than that, there's no wear to the item. (It is vintage, after all.)

Throw away your ugly plastic staple puller and unleash this big, toothy cat on those staples. Life's too short for ugly accessories.
