At the end of the story, the continuation of the manga version is written in letter form.
There are also many illustrations by Igarashi Yumiko.
Books reprinted after the Heisei era have had the illustrations removed and are now just text, so if you want to enjoy the illustrations and imagine the scenes, you'll need a version released during the Showa era.
