BENRUS Watch Company -
Founded in New York City in 1921, The Benrus Watch Company is a former American watchmaker founded by three Romanian immigrants: Benjamin Lazrus, his brother Ralph Lazrus, and their friend, Jacques Reymond. The company was named by combining the first names of Benjamin Lazrus and Reymond.
In the early years, the company focused on manufacturing precision timepieces for the military and aviation industries. During World War II, Benrus became a major supplier of watches to the U.S. military and produced over one million timepieces for soldiers and aviators.
After the war, Benrus shifted its focus to the civilian market and became one of the leading watch brands in the United States. With their innovative designs, Benrus watches were popular with both men and women.
In the 1950s and 1960s, with the introduction of several iconic watch models, also a period of great success and innovation, Benrus Watch Company was at the height of its success and was one of the leading watch brands in the United States.

This is a vintage Benrus dress ladies wristwatch, dated from the 1950's.
It is
a manual wind watch powered by a Benrus Watch Co. movement caliber Model DZ
2F, 17 jewels, unadjusted, Swiss made.
Cased in a 14.2x18.2mm oval-shaped
case with fancy lug design with two diamonds on the sides.
10K R.G.P. bezel and stainless steel back.
It still has the original silver
dial (showing some age)
with silver applied hour markers and silver matching hands. The dial is also
signed with Benrus on top.
This watch comes with the original Speidel
flex bracelet. It
will fit a wrist up to
6 3/4"
(17.2 cm). Also, it is coming in an original Benrus display box.
This is an attractive vintage Benrus
wristwatch, it runs and keeps great time.

Women’s watches from the 1900s-1970s were also much smaller than today's offerings. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.
We
prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when
we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of
lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws.
Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we
never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust the
lighting, when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take
pride in that.
The condition is pre-owned.
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and
functions as intended.

mechanical watch. If an extremely accurate, worry-free experience is
what you are seeking, we would recommend purchasing a new quartz
watch. Very few, if any, vintage watches will keep as accurate time as a
modern quartz watch.
We do our absolute best to take accurate photographs of our items and to show
any blemishes.
Examples
of common characteristics of a vintage timepiece are:
-imperfections on the crystal
-imperfections on case
-imperfections on the lugs
-unless stated that the strap is new, the leather is often quite old and may
need replacing in the future
-metal bracelets may not include all of the links that the watch originally may
have come with, but can be replaced with a bracelet or strap of your choosing
If the item is a piece of vintage jewelry, be aware that the item may have some
minor blemishes such as:
-missing stones (view photos, we will NEVER photoshop in a missing stone or
piece)
-minor scratches or discoloration
-fading of plating
-fading of paint
