Japan Edition with Japanese liner notes
Since their debut in 1968, Deep Purple have remained giants of the hard rock and heavy metal scene, overcoming numerous challenges and continuing to inspire generations of musicians. Now, a rare piece of the band's rich live history is finally being released—newly remastered and officially available for the first time.
In 1975, following the departure of founding guitarist Ritchie Blackmore—arguably the biggest crisis in the band's history—Deep Purple welcomed their first American member, the gifted guitarist Tommy Bolin. Together, they recorded the bold and funk-infused album Come Taste The Band and launched a world tour that took them through Oceania, Japan, Asia, North America, and Europe.
One of the standout performances from this tour took place on January 26, 1976, in Springfield, Massachusetts. This concert was professionally recorded for the popular American radio show King Biscuit Flower Hour and was broadcast at the time—but never fully released in album form until now. This 2-disc set uses the original broadcast tapes to present, for the first time, the entire concert including the encore, fully remastered.
With David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes adding a soulful and funky edge, and Tommy Bolin bringing a jazzy flair, Deep Purple redefined their sound—offering fresh, dynamic takes on their classic material. This is an essential release for any Deep Purple fan, capturing the unique energy and chemistry of this short-lived yet unforgettable lineup.
