If you're like me and have made it your goal to acquire denarii of all the Roman Emperors, you will come to the point where its time to shell out the big bucks (Year of the Four Emperors / Year of the Five Emperors / Julio-Claudians). Pertinax was Emperor for three months in early 193. He was elevated to the throne by the Praetorian Guard after the death of the murderous and megalomaniacal Emperor Commodus. As often happened, he was assassinated by that same Pratorian Guard after he attempted to institute reforms to the guard.
This coin is rare and, therefor, inherently valuable. I have tried to set a price that balances the modest condition of the coin with its desirability, but I will entertain offers below my asking price... within reason.
