[No Place]: [No Publisher], c. 1890. A collection of late 19th portraits of cross-eyed (strabismus) boys and men. Ten cabinet cards, two cartes de visite, and one cardboard mounted black and white photo. Housed in a contemporary Art Nouveau album bound in green tapestry cloth and wooden upper cover carved in the style of Alphonse Mucha; with ornamental brass anchor and catch plates, lacking the clasp; all edges gilt. 10.75 x 8.5 x 2.25". Very Good with light wear to covers. Contemporary gift inscription on front pastedown, some tearing to interior slots with toning throughout. Light foxing and some occasional light staining to photographs. An intriguing object to say the least.
