Il cuore del design e delle prestazioni straordinarie di Helios è la Spherical Technology, che utilizza il design "ball-and-socket" sviluppato in collaborazione con Mips, leader del mercato per il sistema di protezione del cervello per ridurre le forze rotazionali durante una caduta. La Spherical Technology permette alla calotta esterna del casco di ruotare intorno alla calotta interna durante un incidente, e permette di assorbire la forza d’impatto grazie al Progressive Layering, cioè alla diversa densità delle due calotte. Quella esterna è più densa e quindi più rigida, mentre quella interna è meno densa e quindi meno rigida: durante un impatto la calotta esterna funge da scudo assorbendo per prima l’urto e tutte le asperità mentre la calotta interna si comporta quasi come un cuscino proteggendo la testa del ciclista.
