Soviet Badge in Commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Dzerzhinsky Military Engineers Academy, 1970 issue.

This is a GUARANTEED ORIGINAL badge made and issued in the Soviet Union in 1970 – not a later reissue or a replica!

The badge is of extremely fine quality! It is made in brass and top-quality enamels. Measures 38.8 mm in height x 29.4 mm in width. Very complex five-piece construction: the plaque, cannon with the rocket, plaque with the name of the school, and the two decorations awarded to the academy - Order of Lenin and Order of Suvorov - are separate parts attached by rivets. The reverse shows the raised dates "1820 - 1970".

The badge is in VERY FINE to EXCELLENT condition. There is a small surface flake to enamel immediately under the rocket, not very noticeable or detractive; the enamel is perfect otherwise and shows a beautiful luster. All the enamel on this piece is 100% ORIGINAL – there are no enamel repairs. On the reverse, the pin attachment has been replaced with a screw – something that Soviet military men often did to make sure that the badge is firmly attached to the tunic and lines up perfectly with the other decorations.  The screw plate is fully functional.
