Does the caterpillar die when it becomes a butterfly? Butterflies go through a life cycle that involves several stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. The metamorphosis from a caterpillar into a butterfly occurs during the pupa stage. During this stage, the caterpillar's old body dies and a new body forms inside a protective shell known as a chrysalis.

I take close up photos and macro photos of caterpillars and butterflies because it's about the transformation or change. We go thru something similar if we have surgery, or if we have medical or mental health issues. My biggest question is, do the caterpillars thoughts and memory go to the butterfly? Does the caterpillar accept becoming a beautiful butterfly, sure, many might think it's much prettier. But does the caterpillar appreciate the change, did it like eating milkweed and resting in the sun on a rock? Or now that its a butterfly does it accept flying high into the atmosphere and traveling long distances? We need to learn to ACCEPT CHANGES and not to EXPECT PERFECTION if we have surgery or take new medications.

After my craniotomy I decided to learn to take macro and closeup photos. My other inspiration is the Beach Boys Song In My Room. Hobbies are good for your health and recovery, so I planted flowers because gardening is a hobby, made sure they would attract butterflies. The butterflies would leave eggs that became the caterpillars and then they became new butterflies. Plus it is beneficial for the environment. I only had a few breeds arrive and mostly it's Monarchs.

Yes, providing food for butterflies can be beneficial for the environment, as it helps support butterfly populations and their ecological roles. Butterflies are important pollinators, contributing to plant reproduction, and they are also part of the food chain, providing sustenance for various animals.
