NO FG - The FG letters on the reverse side of the coin represent initials of the Frank Gasparro. Frank was the designer of the reverse side of the coin. The issue with lettering is related to the die abrasions and or overzealous coil polishing. The definition of the NO FG terminology is " If the FG initials can't be found under 5x magnification, the coin is a NO FG variety. However, there must be no trace of FG initials - a light indication of the lettering does not count as NO FG variety, and numismatists do not presently recognize "Weak FG" as a variety.
The enclosed 1982 P coin is extremely valuable and is the most sought NO FG example and is also recognized by PCGS as such". As of 2020 PCGS with NO FG example graded a coin to SP68 with a price of up to $2,365 that traded hands in 2014.
